Who is Mr Sebastian Lim?

Mr Sebastian Lim specialises in coaching students for a focused, accelerated path to ace their first major papers at the O levels and Year 4 IP program. His vivacious teaching style and strong academic background from Hwa Chong and NUS NUS has made him a popular and effective teacher amongst his students. With 5 years of teaching experience under his belt, his insightful lessons and exam prep tips have propelled students towards excelling at the examinations.

Mr Lim enjoys mentoring young individuals to develop their full potential in secondary and tertiary education. He was the winning mentor to a team of students from Hwa Chong Institution college section for the Best Business Idea competition for entrepreneurship and start-ups in 2013. He actively seeks a mentoring role to his students in both academic rigor, which include school projects, competitions and holistic education from his past academic success and experiences. Mr Lim had represented Singapore to successful win the South-East Asian round of Henkel Innovation Challenge in 2012, a competition to present innovative ideas and market solutions to the world. He actively seeks to inspire students towards excelling in their education and academic projects with a competitive streak.

Is this a group tuition or a 1-on-1 tuition?

Mr Sebastian Lim specialises in group tuition. The classroom can sit up to 15 students and is equipped with air-conditioner (bring your jacket!) and a high-resolution projector. We do not provide 1-1 tuition.

What types of programmes are available?

The weekly programmes available are:
Secondary 3 O level and IP Chemistry
Secondary 4 O level and IP Chemistry
For every weekly programme, 2-hour lessons are conducted weekly.
Mr Lim specialises in coaching specialised IP program tailored to the specific school’s SOW.

What materials are provided?

How are the lessons conducted?

Every lesson can be divided into two main stages: Critical Concept Delivery based on the syllabus required by the latest syllabus. Efficient Problem Solving About Class Registration

What timeslots are available?

Please refer to Seb Academy Program For the latest timeslots available. If the listed timeslots do not fit your schedule, please contact Mr Lim @+65-9828-6651 for a discussion in possibly opening new timeslots.

How do I register for a class?

You may register for a class by filling an electronic form here contact You will be notified via SMS or whatsapp if your registration is successful.

Do I have to make a deposit when I intend to register for a class?

No deposit is required. However, do bring the fees payable for the number of lessons left in the term (please check with Mr Sebastian Lim).

What is the withdrawal process?

Students can withdraw any time. Fees paid will not be refundable.

How much is the fee?

The tuition fee starts from S$340 (Sec 3/IP Chemistry) and S$360 (Sec 4/IP Chemistry)
The fees will increase for students who join later in their academic journey with Seb Academy. Please refer to the class program pages for more details, students’ fees will be locked in at the rate that they registered at throughout their stay with Seb Academy. From 2019 May onwards, fees are collected on a monthly basis pro-rated to the number of lessons in that month.

Are there material or administrative fees?

There are no further material or administrative fees.

When are the fees due and collected?

Fees are collected at the start of each month or when the new student come for the first lesson. Fees due are computed based on the number of lessons set out for each month.

What are the modes of payment?

Collection of locked-in fees for the entire school term is done on the first lesson of the term.
Please indicate [Student Name], [School], [Level] [lesson class slot] at all times Paylah / PayNow to the company UEN paynow number. (Please inform the centre’s administrator once payment has been completed)
Cheques and cash are not accepted.

Receipts will be issued within a week acknowledging the fees received.

Will I be rewarded if I refer a friend?

Parents or students will enjoy a referral fee for every referral to Seb Academy who had joined and stayed on the weekly programme.

* Check with Mr Lim on the referral fee! This referral programme does not apply to crash courses.

Can a student swap class?

Students are encouraged to remain in the same class.
If there is a real need to swap classes, it will be subject to class availability and must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
Each student is allowed up to 2 class swaps per term due to any reason.

Will there be make-up classes if I have to miss a lesson?

Students who are unable to attend a lesson due to any reason are encouraged to perform a class swap within the same week. There will be no other replacement classes. Each student is allowed up to 2 class swaps per term due to any reason and class swaps must be done at least 24 hours in advance.

What if I am unable to attend any lesson even after considering class swap?

Students are strongly encouraged to make up for the missed class via a class swap so as to ensure they are not behind in their learning. Students who are unable to attend any lesson even after considering class swaps may attend the lesson in the students portal. If due to adverse situations please submit a reason to be considered for approval for a fee refund. The fees to be refunded for each unattended lesson is up to $50. Each student is eligible for up to 2 fee refunds per term. There will be no make-up classes or refund of school fees if Seb Academy closes due to uncontrollable, unforeseen circumstances, such as the spread of contagious diseases (e.g. SARS).

I am not sure if Mr Sebastian Lim is suitable for me. Can I attend a trial lesson?

First-time students are more than welcome to sit for 1 non-obligatory trial lesson before deciding to register for the full term. Do continue with the electronic registration here and check for availability with Mr Lim.
Trial lesson are pro-rated to 1 lesson fee. For students who wish to continue after the trial lesson, payment should be made on the next lesson for the number of lessons remaining in the month.

Do I have to pay for the trial lesson?

Trial lessons are pro-rated to 1 lesson’s fee. Payment should be made on the day of lesson
